Celpe-Bras
Celpe-Bras is the only Brazilian Portuguese certificate which is officially recognized by the Brazilian government. It is also a requirement to subscribe to undergraduate and graduate programs of Brazilian federal universities, and it is internationally accepted as proof of Portuguese language competence and proficiency by other educational institutions as well as by private companies. The certificate is awarded according to the level of proficiency shown by candidates. The levels may be "Intermediate", "Upper-Intermediate", "Advanced" and "Upper-Advanced". The exam, which is developed by the Anísio Teixeira National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (INEP), is bound to the Ministry of Education (MEC), and is applied in Brazil and in several other countries. Since 2009, UFSCar has been an accredited post to apply the test, which is the result of Portuguese as a foreign language teaching efforts in the University.
